My traveling forks

I love to travel. In fact I am passionate about travel especially when I can be an ambassador for sound healing, and Oriental medicine. Wherever I travel in the world the Acutonics tuning forks come with me. The inconvenience of carrying them is completely surpassed by the deep satisfaction I experience when I see how these far reaching vibrations transform people.  No matter where in the globe I travel: USA, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Bhutan, Nepal, France, Italy, Japan, China, Bali…everybody responds to and resonates with this work. Providing a very clear message; we are all ONE, connected, to each other and to the Universe in that magic WEB. The vibration of the forks takes us back to that union that might have been forgotten. We get reset by the forks’ experience. Our consciousness and awareness are raised.

In Bali, my dear Ibu Putu cried of happiness when I sounded the Ohm forks around her head. She kept saying OM, OM!! She placed her hands in prayer position and retreated into herself tears flowing down her cheeks. She emerged eyes shining with a broad smile on her face saying how the sound was OM. It transported her to her Hindu temple, to God. And yes, the forks were the Ohm forks, but I had not told her anything about them. She followed me, and the forks, this powerful vibration, for my entire stay in Bali.

In Spain, my family and friends await their sound sessions. They know very little about sound or vibrational healing but they love music, rhythm, dancing and singing flamenco. This may account for the transformation they experience in every session! For instance, my dear cousin, a true non-believer, is an insulin-dependent diabetic that enjoys life fully he eats, drinks and parties, with little regard for his health. When I used the Acutonics Tuning forks with him he couldn’t find the words to express the power of the session. He just kept repeating it was the most amazing experience of his life. He was totally puzzled, looking at me with new eyes, longing eyes.

My forks latest travel adventure was to Ecuador with Acupuncturists without Borders (AWB). This journey supports the vision that Donna and Ellen have to bring Acutonics all over the world but especially, to underprivileged indigenous societies. Under the AWB banner, a group of practitioners traveled extensively through key cultural and ecological areas of the Highland and Amazonian Ecuador. We met with healers of different Kichua speaking communities, we exchanged healing sessions with local shamans; we treated over 900 people! The treatments followed the NADA protocol of auriculotherapy, where 5 needles are placed in each ear. Where did the forks fit into this scenario? What was I doing there? Diana Fried the AWB founder had experienced the forks and supported introducing them into the AWB training and treatment sessions. It was up to me to see how they could be used in this context. Kairos Institute had donated Acutonics tuning fork sets for me to distribute to individuals.

The first treatment sessions were the most challenging experiences of my life as a practitioner. The word had been well spread that some volunteer doctors were in town. The town authorities and other organizations had set up the venue, a gymnasium/community center. There were more than 300 people waiting when I arrived,. Stunned and momentarily immobilized by the shear volume of people waiting to be treated the team leader asked me how I was going to work with the forks. For the first time in my life I was speechless! Nothing had prepared me for what I saw.  Asked how long I needed for each treatment. I automatically said: minimum, 20 minutes. The team leader laughed. “Do you see how many people we have? If you cannot do a treatment in 7-10 minutes, forget about the forks!” That’s all I needed to hear to set a new world record for the most Acutonics treatments per hour! Jokes aside, in that first healing session, I truly realized the power of the forks, intention, inspiration and being present. I did what I had to do. More people, less resources, less time, more efficiency, less mind, more heart. It worked. As more people saw me working, more and more wanted to receive the forks. The vibration spread in the room. I attended my allotted group plus all the children and those that required more specific care and of course, the needle-phobic.

In the days that followed, my brain/mind was out of the picture. Anyone who knows me will recognize how extraordinarily hard that is for me to do. I treated according to context. In one session, we only had 10 minutes left since the bus (our transportation) was leaving. The acupuncturists doing the NADA treatment had finished but I still had many people waiting that had begged me to treat them with the forks, to just touch them. We were outdoors, at the main plaza, they were sitting on concrete benches at the bus stop under the blinding Ecuadorian sun. I just went ahead and did group treatments! I used high frequency tuning forks, wrapping people in sound and connecting them with a light touch of the Low Frequency forks. The older women closed their eyes, placed their hands in prayer position and started praying! Just like my Balinese friend Ibu Putu!

In the Amazanga community, with the Kichua speaking people of the Puyuc Runa heritage, the forks found many followers among their children. The AWB team started calling me the Pied Piper. I encouraged the children to take the tuning forks, sound them and listen to them. While I worked with one child, I let the others work with each other. One little girl took the full Moon fork, listened to it and exclaimed: the Moon! This sent chills down my spine and it still does when I recall it.

The work in Ecuador is just beginning. We, AWB, the forks, are going back to train Ecuadorian people in the NADA protocol, in basic acupuncture, qi gong, self massage and Acutonics. Diana asked that I take charge of organizing this task. We promised the people we would return. I am determined to make this happen. I know I will be able to do this with additional volunteers from the Acutonics community!

What is next for the forks?  My tuning forks and I are heading to Leadville, Colorado where I will be part of the crew for my bike-racing husband Andy at “The Mountain Bike Race”, (Lance Armstrong will be competing too). At Andy’s request I will be using my Acutonics tuning forks in every stage and venue I can.

In August I’ll join AWB for a trip to Nepal to train healthcare workers and set up clinics. I am sure the monks will recognize the Ohm forks…I’ll keep you all posted.

Did you enjoy your Easter Sunday?
Besides the religious meaning of the Holiday, Easter Sunday is a good excuse to get together with friends and family and celebrate.

I remember one epic Easter...here is the story and the recipes!
Our 3 children were little, 7, 5, and 3. My husband had invited a very important client for lunch, I had invited a few friends for an Easter Egg hunt in the nearby Flamingo gardens. We all arrived to the hunt, children all excited, parents ready to go ...and to my surprise...the Easter Egg Hunt had already happened the week before!!! I say to my surprise because, my family and friends, knowing me and my "little problem" remembering dates and times, were really not that surprised! But I was so embarrased and mortified that I decided I had to make up for the fiasco by inviting everybody for Easter Lunch at our home. I sent everyone ahead with my husband and the children and headed for Publix, well, another "surprise"! Publix, and everything else was closed! And I had, literally, no food in the house. I had been swamped that week with clinic hours and classes ( I was finishing Chinese Medicine School) and had no time to prepare nor even think about Easter.

I took a few deep breaths, thought about the miracle of the fish and the bread and headed for home. At this point we were already 25 people for lunch, 10 of them children. I sent an SOS to a few neighbors and went on to raid their freezers. The booty was...varied. I got a few pieces of frozen meats, even a chorizo!, 9 or 10 tomatoes, a bag of potatoes, a few sweet potatoes and a pack of salad. That was going to have to do!
My dear italian friend Ornella, when recovered from the shock, offered to make a pesto sauce, that would take care of the children. Pasta al pesto! -I did have pasta at home-
Pesto Sauce: 2 cups packed fresh basil, 1 cup parmesan or romano cheese, 2 cups olive oil extra virgin, 1/2 cup pignoli or walnuts, place it all in the blender (my amazing vitamix), adjust amounts to taste and consistency.

Roasted potatoes

I tossed the quartered potatoes, skin on, with olive oil, garlic cloves, sea salt, pepper corns and rosemary and placed them in the oven to roast...that took care of another side dish.
I made a marinade with:
1 cup packed fresh cilantro, 1 cup packed fresh mint (all from my garden), a handfull of baby carrots, a 2 inch piece of ginger, 1 tablespoon of miso paste, 2 cloves of garlic, peeling of 1 lemon, juice of 1 lemon, 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar, 1/3 peanut oil and 1 cup olive oil. Blended it all.
That was the marinade that I used for the meat (not the chorizo), and the mixed odd veggies that I had at home, eggplant, zuchini and yellow squash. I sliced the veggies and laddered them in the marinade as well, reserving some for after they were grilled. I assigned the grill to A MAN, and continued serving drinks (home made lemonade made by my son) and ice cold beers and some "tinto de verano" an easy version of the Spanish drink sangria made by mixing on the spot some wine with orange juice and seltzer water. (the gas station was opened!)
Another side dish, tomato salad:
Slice the tomatoes. Place them beautifully arranged on a flat dish, make a dressing by mixing a pressed clove of garlic, 1 tb dry oregano, salt and pepper and olive oil. Pour it over the tomatoes.

Mixed green salad: the only thing to do here is open the bag and add the marinade that I had made for the grilling. Works beautiful as a salad dressing too.

With the grill, salads and pasta going, I roasted a bunch of nuts with some olive oil and hot pepper flakes...try! Is really yummy!

By the way, notice all the recipes are in the healthy side...I do what I preach!
(don't count the ice cream)

Here is the improvised menu:
-Home roasted HOT almonds and walnuts and marinated olives.
- Tomato salad with oregano vinaigrette.
-Mixed green salad.
-Rosemary roasted potatoes.
-Mixed barbecue meats and vegetables.
-Pasta al pesto (lots of it)

"tinto de verano" (summer red wine)
lemonade
beers
ICE CREAM!!!
Everybody had a great time! Nobody noticed what happened -a couple of friends and my husband still think I am a witch, a nice one though- and I believe they forgave my slip with the egg hunt...

Do you want to share your experience and recipes?

My experience in Ecuador....you need to hear the story

I just came back from a trip to Ecuador with Acupuncturists Without Borders. Nine of us went in this second World Healing Exchange Trip. I am writing this because you, the world, need to hear the story.

How would I describe what we have seen? What we have experienced? Where to start? Since I am not a linear person, attempting to tell the story in a descriptive linear way will not do. So I ask you to please, bear with me as I tell my story.

As I write this in the flight back home, my whole being is filled with joy and awe at the depth of the WISDOM that this indigenous people have. Maybe not regular university-adquired-KNOWLEDGE, but real WISDOM. The wisdom that comes from freeing yourself from the exterior superficial world so you can see your true self and the interconnection with other human beings, with Earth and the Universe.

The indigenous really get it. They get and live what ancient and modern sages have been trying to tell us for millennia. They truly live in this 99% realm that does not rely in the five senses nor in Cronos time. They own nothing, not even their land since they do not consider themselves “land owners”, but they connect with Earth, Nature, Cosmos. They live, not only believe, being part of ONE, of a WHOLE. They taught me true INTEGRATION. They taught me what community means. Their sense of community, their sense of service, not charity. This last concept is not understood nor ever used.

Yes, their sense of community has touched me deeply. It is not a “communist” sense, it recognizes and values the capabilities of each individual and considers each and one as pieces of the puzzle, as valuable tools to build the life project of unity and integration with the ONE. It is a community of one and all. There is no separation. As the Daoist said: Earth and Heavens connected by the human being. Was it Hermes Trismegistus that also wrote how human beings were the only creatures that could travel between Heavens and Earth? Jacobs ladder.

Patricio Pilco, our indigenous “contact” in Agua Santa, his family and village showed us the UNITY in action, in a practical way, an earthy way. Living testimony that it is not just a philosophical concept but one that can be lived in Earth Time. Detached from material objects but ATTACHED to EARTH and COSMOS. They haven’t cut their umbilical cord with the ONE…original sin hasn’t set in yet…

Their healers kept telling us and proving to us what the ancient sages of all traditions have said: there is nothing for us in the outside. They told us how looking for answers outside only leads to separation and sense of lacking, incompleteness. Intipaxi, one of their wise healers told us these last words as our group was leaving: look in, look in, there is nothing outside of you.

And look at how they live, bare minimum, day by day, always in the present moment. The Earth and The Universe will provide, and it does. Our bus would arrive to their village with only the 9 of us aboard to deliver the treatments but we will leave with 20 people! Had they planned that ride? No, but they are so in tuned with themselves, the cosmos, their surroundings, that they are opened to changing the course of the events of the day when the opportunity presented. Because they are present, attentive and receptive they receive what they need. We could only follow their example. We adapted and changed courses all the time. Venues and times changed constantly, people kept showing up for treatments, even needles kept appearing when we finally run out of supplies. And we got what we needed.

But of course, there are material needs. Unfortunately, their life is not an utopian life. There is devastating poverty, at least from my “civilized” point of view. But the point is that poverty was introduced, created by a powerful external force, the colonization, that created the separation, the disconnection.

When the “colonist” took over the indigenous people’s land, they took away the spirit of the place. They raped the land. The same way the Spanish conquistadors tried to erase the indigenous’ soul to dominate them into submission, centuries later, the mestizos - those descendants of Spaniards and uprooted Indians- did exactly the same. They stole, raped, misused…they did not care for the land, they abused it, they did not relate to the land as a living organism as their indigenous ancestors did, but took it as rock and dirt and just a ground where to grow cattle to make a profit. Ancient pre-incan terraces were destroyed, forests logged, good fertile soil stripped of minerals by erosion and overuse. The water disappeared. That separation of man-earth-heavens created poverty, not the lack of material goods.

Some of the indigenous communities have recovered their land. Years of fighting finally brought the Agrarian Reform Law and some of the colonist-stolen land was returned but…in what a estate! Eroded and depleted, the colonist also destroyed the indigenous native plants and now, the new foreign seeds provided to re-start their agriculture have to be bought every planting season, they are dependent on chemical fertilizers and pesticides that can only be bought at exorbitant prices from foreign companies. Cycles of nature were forgotten, connection with Earth broken. Perfectly self-sufficient indigenous communities became “poor ignorant Indian towns”. In those years of disconnection, with the ancient wisdom lost and no access to “civilized” knowledge, the indigenous people were left with the worst of both worlds, stranded in limbo, ostracized, marginalized, stuck in no-man’s land.

And here comes a family with a VISION. The Pilco family, our friend Patricio’s family, to bring us the news that not all is lost, that some of them still remember. Their vision is to “Rescue the Earth to rescue the children”. But not just their –the Pilco’s- children, but the children of earth. They welcomed us into their farm and showed us how the 12 of them took upon themselves to “paint the mountain green”, to reforest their ancestral now-barren mountains. Single handedly, pure muscle and determination to follow that vision. No foreign help nor government or non-government aid. They alone, with no expectations for reward or recognition, just the deep satisfaction of returning the earth to its rightful place, in connection with man. They are determined to bring back the land and the lost wisdom that comes with that connection with the land. They started with a personal bank loan of $9000. Do any of you have an idea of how much is $9000 for Patricio’s family? I don’t think you do if you haven’t seen where and how they live. But they did the seemingly impossible and so far, they have planted 30,000 native trees. We could see them shyly coming up in the mountains behind the farm. A few friends helped, Jonathon Miller-Weisberger, a Berkely native that grew up in Ecuador, an Ethnobotanist and Patricio’s compadre. He is trying to draw awareness to their vision and collaborates with them in all he can. Some times the army, the Ecuatorian soldiers helped. A few students showed up. But, who pays the Pilco family? Who will pay the loan back? Because there is no short term profit in the reforestation. Patricio says they do it for the Community. And they do not mean the Indigenous community only but the Earth community, the World! They are teaching us a big lesson. Animals, Trees, Water, Oxygen. How can we all be so blind? How can we have forgotten the basic principles of Earth living?

So when Acupuncturists Without Borders arrived to the area, we were thrown right in the midst of this integrative vision, a vision that its founder Diana Fried had always seen and that finally, in this forgotten corner of the earth was so clearly presented. One of us, I believe Anisha, came up with the slogan, “Heal the Earth, Heal the People”. Makes perfect sense isn’t it? How can we even attempt to heal the individual if this is disconnected from the earth, the mother, the provider? How can humans heal if the earth is wounded and nobody cares? How can we see humans as separate independent organisms? How can we be so blind as not to see where this separation has taken humanity?

In all our days of traveling and working with the indigenous – 7 acupuncturists treated more than 900 people with acupuncture, massage, auricular, acutonics – we got a glimpse of what could have been, we cried for the lost but we got inspired by their vision.

As Oriental Doctors it is our vision too. An integrative vision, a return to the Dao to the three treasures Earth, Humanity, Heavens.

Intipaxi, one of their wise healers we had the honor to exchange with told us of an old legend. He said that North America is the land of the eagle and South America, the land of the condor. And that according to the prophecies, this is the time for the eagle and the condor to fly together and heal the Earth. We were deeply moved by this quiet man’s wisdom, humility and especially by the depth of his vision. He was the perfect closing for this awakening trip.

Needless to say that we received so much more than we gave…

So, here we are, this little group of nine people committed to this vision of Integrity and Unity. And we want to bring you on board.

We made a promise to these keepers of earth that we were coming back to do our share. We, the eagle, will come back to fly with the condor to heal the earth.

Our promise: as acupuncturists, and under the sponsorship of AWB, we will provide training in basic “barefoot” acupuncture, massage, auricular acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, ear seeds, moxa, nutrition, hygiene etc to qualified health coordinators from different communities. The community leaders will do the selection and send us those better qualified for the job. We are contacting local healers with knowledge of local medicinal plants to incorporate those in the training. We have this vision of creating permanent clinics, community centers were those barefoot doctors can work and teach self care to the members of the community but also, where volunteer licensed acupuncturists and herbalists from all over the world could go and work there too.

We will join forces with those keepers of the earth and promote conservation and environmental awareness, love and care for the earth.

So, there we are, we have the Indigenous Healers taking care of the Heavens, the Pilco family and conservation groups to help with Earth, and us, the acupuncturist community to help with the humans, all interwoven, working together, all connected in that vision of Integrity and Unity.

Will you join us?

Of course we need money. And more than anything we need consciousness.

But we do need money, ideas, work. We have established a committee within the AWB organization to make this vision happen. Contributions, ideas, information can be directed to the two chairs of the committee, Karen Kurtak at natureisbliss@gmail.com and Alicia Villamarin at aliciavillamarin@gmail.com www.aliciavillamarin.com

Thank you for listening

In Ecuador! Amazing experience that will have a follow up. So far, in 4 days, more than 800 treatments, exchange healing with shaman, meetings in remote Quechua villages...I am working with the sound, the acutonics forks...how they accepted it! So receptive and so much that can be done! Back to train, this is the begining!

Acutonics Class Coming Up In February 19, 20, 21st

Remember, the class is on the 19th, 20th, 21st of February, right around the corner !
This class is the foundation of the Sound and Vibrational Healing Acutonics.

You do not need to have any previous experience in Health or in Energy work, nor you need to be a musician nor to know music! I have taught people with a wide variety of backgrounds and they all enriched the teachings with their different knowledge and sensibilities. Please contact me if you are interested: 954-680-5510.

WHAT IS ACUTONICS?
The Acutonics Healing System is an energy-based non-invasive treatment that is similar to acupuncture. Precision calibrated tuning forks are applied to specific acupuncture and acupressure points to access the body’s Meridian and Chakra energy systems. All of our tuning forks represent a natural harmonic series based on the orbital properties of the Earth, Moon, Sun, Planets and other celestial bodies. Their rich resonance and vibration connects with and supports the body’s natural frequencies to bring us into alignment with the cycles and rhythms of the Cosmos known since antiquity as the Music of the Spheres.

Ancient Physicians discovered a system of cyclic energy that flows along specific pathways in the human body. Each pathway is associated with a particular physiological
system and internal organ. Disease will arise when there is an imbalance of vital energy in the body’s pathways and associated systems. These pathways or meridians of energy communicate with the surface of the body at specific locations on the skin, which are called points. These points or gateways are accessed through vibration with the application of the Acutonics Tuning Forks.

HOW DOES IT WORK

The tuning fork is struck on an Acutonics Acuvator then placed on the body or held near the ears. The sound waves of the forks vibrate and travel deeply into the body along these energy pathways, affecting human physiology and reaching places not easily accessed by traditional medicine. Applying the forks stimulates and balances the body’s physical and subtle energy field to promote healing and inner harmony. Listening to the forks speaks to us deeply by connecting with our vestibular system, within the inner ear canal, and accessing our sense of motion, balance, space, memory and healing.

SOUND IS THE KEY
The key to the Acutonics system is SOUND; it is sound that takes us home. When the frequencies and intervals of Acutonics are applied to specific points or gateways our bodies and souls remember these cosmic tones, which provide access to a deep inner balance and help us sonically reset negative cellular patterns. The work is powerful and profound; it has the capacity to relieve chronic and debilitating illnesses and imbalances of the psyche and soul by realigning and reharmonizing us with the greater cycles and rhythms of the universe.
